Our shawls begin as raw wool on the banks of the Jhelum. They are spun on the charkha, woven on wooden looms and embroidered by hand in sozni needlework that can take a single artisan three months. We pay above guild rates and credit every maker by name.

The craft
Sozni is needlework so fine it reads as painting. Artisans trace chinar leaves, paisleys and vines in silk thread, a few millimetres at a time, so the pattern appears on both faces of the shawl.

“Beautifully packed, with a handwritten note from the artisan. Worth every rupee.”
“I wear my pheran every winter morning. Warm, soft and so well cut.”
